Concept
This project seeks to guide
the concept of the narrative of
a piece of art, to areas that are
melded with the written language.
This is accomplished with a gallery
installation, using elements of
the written word, mixed with the
artist's own graphic elements, which
creates a new word or project; to
create a visual speech, where the
formats, supports and elements form
words / icono-significants.
The
idea is to develop a visual speech
about a piece of art, utilizing
grammar figures of the chosen language,
articulating the elements which
are used to find the word's meaning
(example: the point, the dash, the
asterisk, etc), all melded with
the artist's own language of graphic
elements.
However, the premeditated need for
each artist to develop his own language
is questioned as going too far.
This is to put into question the
language of the piece of art, how
to interpret it and how to read
it. What is expounded here is a
clear form and unique reading of
the piece of art; seeking an ideal
reading balance, because usually
the code or symbol used for the
artist and that used for the observer
is not the same and is sometimes
misunderstood.
Another
aspect expounded for this project
is that the pieces of art are formed
only for their own descriptions.
Descriptions
of the artist's pieces of art will
form pieces of visual art, whereby
the visual speech of a piece of
art becomes its own piece of art.
The
idea is go to the limit of speech
about the piece of art. Does the
piece of art have more value for
what it is or for what we can say
about it? This is the case of a
piece of art that talks about itself.
Visually,
texts developed for the artist will
try to create a map of characters
which adjust new pieces of art stuck
to the wall, floor or ceiling, depending
on the different supports (video,
object, etc.).
The
development of the art pieces will
seek to engrave a unique interpretation
of the artist's own work.
