Concept:
STAGING This
installation consists of two rectangular
solids of the same height, but not
the same volume, which are named
the issuer and the receiver.
The solid representing the issuer
is the thickest (in volume), its
proportion and position exerts power
over the other (the receiver).
The issuer has five cannon-like
tubes pointing at the receiver,
which "shoot" images at
point-blank over the receiver's
body and the visual impression will
be like a wall execution.
The
cannons will shoot simultaneously,
with the real sound of a shooting
cannon, in oscilatting time intervals,
because the time between one unloading
and the next one will never repeat,
which will cause the appearance
of unforseable images; this is because
the events in real life history
do not necessarily happen in regular
time periods.
The
minimum time between each unloading
will be 8 seconds, the maximum time
will be 30 seconds. All permutations
between the minimum and maximum
times will determine further oscilating
unloading.
The
duration of the images on the receiver's
body will only be for a few seconds,
then it disappears (fade out) into
the dark where it first appeared
from. The agony will be short, but
will repeat over and over.
The
vision of this installation seeks
the participant to contemplate on
it from the side, as a passive character;
to develop a system which will guide
the individual to natural behaviours.
One can always enter the installation,
but at their own risk of being striked
by the firing line, if one is not
alert.
The
projections will consist of: pictures,
audio, and short videos (maximum
of two seconds), etc. They will
be selected for their violent content
(any kind), because scenes without
blood or murder can also be violent.
In the beginning, the artist will
freel yselectthescenes,whichwillformthefirstgroupofscenes.Multiplesourceswillbeused,includingtelevisedevents,radio,newspapers,etc.par
The
media shoots the common people with
all kinds of scenes and information
from throughout the world. Violent
scenes will be collected by the
artist and used again, with the
same intention of the media, but
with differences at a subliminal
level
After
the installation's inauguration,
new violent images will be inserted
at times and added to the previous
scenes. This will require the artist
to "go hunt" for new scenes.
The hunting will be for the artist
and the participant (who can be
an additional hunter in this project),
who at the inaguration will be asked
to collabarate; through a suggestion
box located at the issuer's structure.
The information provided by the
participant will be edited by the
artist and immediately placed in
the computer, to be projected quickly
thereafter.
Inevitably,
popular local and world-wide historical
scenes will be included. However,
they will not be the central attraction
because the scenes are not to be
too important, because the principal
characters need not be celebrities
and the stage places need not be
well-known.
Finally,
I will design a logo, which will
identify the work and will be located
on the side of the issuer structure.
The
common people do not realize the
fire shooting at their faces. The
subliminal intention (before mentioning
it) is to show this bombardment
and merciless cross fire, which
we do not take notice of, until
by chance, one moment, it rubs on
us.
